Indonesia is ranked second as the largest producer of plastic waste in the world after China. The Ministry of Environment and Forestry said that the increase in landfill in Indonesia has reached 175,000 tons/day, equivalent to 64 million tons/year. Waste management is very necessary to minimize the adverse effects. For this reason, it needs to be inserted in social studies learning in order to foster an environmentally caring character. The method used in this study uses the literature study method. The results show that 3R waste management (reduce, reuse, recycle) on social studies learning to foster environmental care character can be done, as follows: 1) Reduce examples, namely paper use can be replaced by collecting papers or assignments in social studies learning using softfile only or through digital device; 2) Examples of Reuse, namely waste management can be done using plastic goods again. Students can use drinking bottles that can be reused, and 3) Examples of Recycle, namely waste management with the concept of recycle are divided into three, namely management of organic (wet), inorganic and B3 waste. For example, managing organic (wet) waste into compost, managing inorganic waste into handicrafts and social media learning media.
